Information We Collect
DIY Project Calc uses Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how visitors interact with the site. This collects anonymous aggregated data: pages visited, time on page, approximate geographic region (city/country level), and browser/device type. This data cannot identify you personally.
All calculators run entirely in your browser. When you enter dimensions, appliance wattages, or material quantities, the calculations happen locally in JavaScript — no data is sent to our servers. We never receive, store, or transmit the numbers you type into the tools.
Cookies
We use cookies for:
- Google Analytics: Tracks page views and user behavior patterns to help us improve the site. These are first-party analytics cookies.
- Google AdSense: If ads are active, AdSense uses cookies to serve relevant advertisements based on your browsing history.
You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-Out Browser Add-on.
Third-Party Services
- Google Analytics (GA4): Tracks anonymous site usage data. See Google's Privacy Policy for details.
- Amazon Associates Program: Some pages contain affiliate links to Amazon.com. When you click an affiliate link and make a purchase, Amazon may set cookies related to your visit. This site may receive a small commission at no additional cost to you. See Amazon's Privacy Notice for details.
- Dakota Contractor Pros: Quote requests submitted through our "Find Local Pros" links go to dakotacontractorpros.com. That site's privacy policy governs data submitted through that form.
Data Retention
Google Analytics retains user-level and event-level data for 14 months by default. Aggregated reports (which do not identify individuals) are retained indefinitely. We do not maintain any independent database of visitor information.
Your Rights (CCPA/CPRA)
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), California residents have the right to:
- Know what personal information is collected about them.
- Request deletion of their personal information.
- Opt out of the sale of their personal information. DIY Project Calc does not sell personal information.
To exercise these rights, contact us through the contact form on Dakota Contractor Pros.
Children's Privacy (COPPA)
DIY Project Calc does not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from children under the age of 13. The calculators and content are intended for adults planning construction and home improvement projects.
